Biome Consulting Group is passionate about restoration ecology, which is the application of management practices designed to enhance an ecosystem’s function and encourage community structure that represents pre-disturbance characteristics. Ecological restoration practices often involve application of prescribed fire, physical manipulation through earth moving, forestry mowing, targeted herbicide application, planting, and other activities to achieve functional enhancements. Ecological restoration may be undertaken at a small scale associated with a permitting activity or applied at a large scale in association with mitigation banking. Additionally, ecological restoration can be used for land management objectives not associated with regulatory requirements.
Documentation of ecological restoration or other regulatory objectives often include quantitative evaluation over a period of time. Biome retains a cadre of highly experienced field biologists who conduct a variety of ecological monitoring activities.
